SPIF has several advantages over traditional forming, such as the high formability attainable by the material. The focus of this research is the single point incremental forming (SPIF) process variant, where a clamped sheet metal is deformed by using a relatively small spherical tool. A crucial aspect in the ISF processes is that the final shape is determined only by the tool movement. ISF refers to processes where the plastic deformation occurs by repeated contact with a relatively small tool. Within the second group, prototyping through incremental sheet forming (ISF) has been subject of several studies. Nowadays, product manufacturing can be divided into two groups: relatively simple products produced in a large production chain and complex (specialized) components produced in reduced batches. An extension for more advanced visualization softwares (e.g., ParaView ) is discussed. The boundary conditions and the post-processing capabilities are also assessed. A demonstration of Gmsh capabilities for Lagamine is shown through diverse meshes, ranging from simple ones to complex pieces.
Here, a couple between Gmsh and Lagamine is presented. Thus it appears that combining both would bring a great amount of “friendliness” for users of the Lagamine code.

In its current state, meshes for the Lagamine code are generated by programs featuring limited geometrical and meshing capabilities. The Lagamine code is a leading edge code for finite element analysis able to model different material behaviors. Because Gmsh is interfaced to the Opencascade modeling kernel, it can also handle different types of files (e.g., CATIA and Autodesk Inventor) to create meshes from complex geometries. Its open source philosophy gives to users the possibility to adapt it to specific requirements. It features different visualization capabilities through a graphical user interface (GUI) making it a powerful pre and post processing tool for FEM analysis.
